Prof. Rajeev Gupta obtained his PhD from IIT Kanpur (India) and did his Postdoctoral work at the University of Kansas (USA). He joined the University of Delhi in 2003 and has been working as a Professor since 2009. He takes an immense interest in teaching and mentoring students. Under his supervision, 21 students have obtained their PhDs, whereas eight students are presently working in his research laboratory. Prof. Gupta’s research interests are in the area of Coordination and Supramolecular Chemistry as well as Functional Materials with focus on catalysis, energy-transfer, photocatalysis, and sensing. He has published extensively, and his work has been widely cited.
He is the recipient of Prof. Priyadaranjan Ray Memorial Award (2023) from the Indian Chemical Society; Bronze Medal (2016) from the Chemical Research Society of India; Science Flame Award (2015) from the World Science Congress; Membership Award from the American Chemical Society (ACS); and Indo-US Research Fellowship (2009) from the Indo–US Science & Technology Forum.
Prof. Gupta has served as a member of the FIST Expert Committee in Chemical Sciences, Department of Science & Technology (DST); the Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) of the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB); Expert Committee of the INSPIRE Fellowship Program; Department of Science & Technology (DST); and Special Assistance Program (SAP) of the University Grant Commission (UGC). Prof. Gupta has also worked as a member of a few divisions of the Central Pollution Control Board (Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change) and Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (Ministry of Health & Family Welfare) in addition to Board of Studies of various universities and institutions across the country.
He has also assisted the University of Delhi with various responsibilities, including Chairman – Admissions, Dean Students’ Welfare, Chairman – FSR Admissions, Chairman – NCWEB, and Provost – International Students’ House.
